The Carriage House at Princess Place is a cozy, thoughtfully crafted retreat made with reclaimed materials. Located beside Burnt Mill Creek in a peaceful birdwatching neighborhood, it’s just 1.5 miles to Downtown Wilmington and the Riverwalk and 7 miles to Wrightsville Beach. Guests enjoy a private hot tub and fire table, making it ideal year-round for beach days, downtown exploring, snowbirds, and travel nomads seeking comfort and character.
Good to know
The Carriage house is a whimsical expression of the host, using reclaimed and creatively re-purposed materials and family treasures. There is a comfortable king size bed in the bedroom. The sofa in the living room will fold into a twin bed if you are bringing a pre-approved child. Essentially, you have a separate one bedroom apartment with a kitchen-and open living area with a back deck and a screened front porch. The backyard offers a fire table for cool evening enjoyment and a hot tub dedicated for guest use in a serene garden area outside the carriage house. The Carriage House is ideal for a couple or for two friends visiting Wilmington. I do allow extra occupancy for one child (18 years or younger) accompanying a parental unit. If you request an extra adult guest and if I grant your request, there will be a $75 per night add on fee.
House Rules
Please take off your shoes upon entering the house. Smoking (marijuana, cigarettes, cigar's etc) is not allowed on the property. If the smell of marijuana is detected in the rental, after third party verification, the guest will be charged an extra $250 for the housekeeper involved with the extra odor mitigation. Please treat the Carriage House with respect, as you would treat yours. No more than two guests may stay over night at the Carriage house. While the number of guests is set at two (2), I do allow for a child (18 or younger) as well. If you request a third (adult) person and your request is approved, a $75 extra guest fee per night will be added to your invoice. Hot Tub use: if you have lotion on your body, please shower before getting in the hot tub to prevent an oily film and cloudy water. If you have hair product in your hair, please either rinse it out or put your hair up so it does make contact with the water.
Other Details to Note
While the number of guests is set at two (2), I do allow for a third occupant, if the person is a child (18 or younger) and I have been advised. I have a Ring door bell at my private home at the front door and a Ring security camera the back porch of my private home.

Neighborhood
The wildlife at Burnt Creek Mill is plentiful and the 1.5 miles of historic cemeteries begin a block from our home. Historic Downtown Wilmington (1.5 miles away) is accessible by car or you can even walk. Wrightsville Beach is 7 miles away and Carolina Beach is 16 miles away.
Guest Access
You will have exclusive access to a screened front porch and canopy covered back deck. The washer and dryer in the main house are available for your usage, if you need to refresh your towels after visiting the beach or would like a load a laundry done. I am happy to do this for you at no charge. The dedicated 4 man hot tub is reserved for the Carriage House and Casita guests only. The Casita is the apartment below the Carriage House. The fire table is for roasting marshmallows and enjoying the crisp Fall and Winter weather (Spring and Summer too of course) Please enjoy my yard. In addition to your deck and screened porch at the Carriage House, I have a large deck and sitting areas in the back yard. I have perennials and other flowers in the gardens. The Celeste fig tree's produces delicate and tasty figs in July. The herb garden is open to you to enhance your culinary pursuits. I enjoy and grow tropical flowers. And I have cats and a silly little dog, Gomez, that you are free to pet and play with, if you are so inclined.

Travel by car or UBER or LYFT is recommended, especially when heading to the beach on the weekends . I like to walk to the downtown area in the day time.
